5 Ways You May Be Attracting Snakes Into Your Home
Snakes don’t just live outside. They are savvy and are often looking to upgrade their accommodation. So before you wake up next to a venomous copperhead when you need to pee during the night, here are 5 things you can do according to experts to prevent unwanted snakes from moving in.
1 — Rodents
Snakes love to eat mice and rats. They love it. They are so delicious. They will eat them grilled, al dente, or even raw. So if you have mice or rats in your home already, it’s normal that snakes will want to come inside to feast. They may even let other snakes know that there is food in your house.
“If you have rodents living in your attic or elsewhere on your property, or are using rodents as household staff, for example a rat as a personal chef, it is very possible for snakes to appear,” Ann Velcher of Tri-City Pest Control tells me. “Even if you don’t have rodents, snakes may be attracted to bird eggs, baby birds, frogs, lizards, and other smaller amphibians — and who among us doesn’t have plenty of these in our houses?”
